[00:02:10.78 - 00:02:12.22]

And now, on with the show.

[00:02:20.84 - 00:02:32.04]

The box office smash Sound of Freedom portrayed her as a monster that sold children into sex slavery. They called her character Katie, but the hero of the film made sure the world knew her real name.

2
Speaker 2
[00:02:32.20 - 00:02:44.42]

Her name is Kelly Suarez. Kelly Suarez, real person, right? Kelly was Miss Cartagena, famous in town, and she recruited kids to her modeling agency. But she was selling them, 12-year-olds.

3
Speaker 3
[00:02:44.86 - 00:02:57.26]

Kelly Johanna Suarez was branded. the kind of supervillain few could even imagine existed. A ruthless businesswoman whose product was child sex slaves. And they branded her that before a global audience.

2
Speaker 2
[00:02:57.50 - 00:03:03.78]

In the case of Kelly, who is a real person. She is also a real character? Yes, very real.

3
Speaker 3
[00:03:04.22 - 00:03:26.50]

Kelly became despised on an international scale. But what the filmmakers didn't tell the public is that she was never convicted of child sex trafficking. She'd eventually sue the filmmakers for destroying her life. And the Christian team behind the movie now claim that their true story was really just a work of fiction. Now Kelly Johanna Suarez speaks out for the first time since the movie's release.

2
Speaker 2
[00:03:26.80 - 00:03:29.62]

I have been waiting for this moment for 10 years.

3
Speaker 3
[00:03:29.92 - 00:03:31.64]

And she has a message for the world.

2
Speaker 2
[00:03:31.98 - 00:03:33.48]

Tim Ballard is a fraud.

3
Speaker 3
[00:03:46.98 - 00:04:05.34]

Sound of Freedom. It's hard to exaggerate its success. First filmed in 2018, it sat on the shelf for over four years. The filmmakers suggested Hollywood had something to hide. But that changed when a small Utah-based studio picked it up and made it into a phenomenon.

[00:04:05.72 - 00:04:22.04]

By garnering the full-throated backing of the Christian community. But since the movie's launch, we've been investigating the claims made by the film's alleged real-life hero, Tim Ballard, and what we've found is shocking. Welcome to this special edition of Red Pilled America. I'm Patrick Karelchy.

1
Speaker 1
[00:04:22.30 - 00:04:46.94]

And I'm Adriana Cortez. When we first started investigating the alleged true story behind Sound of Freedom, we did not know where it would take us. But we did know that the hero of the movie claimed to be saving children. So, understanding the truth behind the film was of the utmost importance. We'd ultimately learn that the premise of Sound of Freedom was built on a lie peddled by Tim Ballard for at least a decade.

[00:04:47.58 - 00:05:04.92]

A lie he used to manipulate many well-meaning media personalities into helping generate millions in donations. We also discovered that the real-life main villain in the film was never convicted of child sex trafficking. An odd fact, given that the film claimed to be a true story.

3
Speaker 3
[00:05:05.42 - 00:05:31.92]

But it got much worse. New evidence obtained by Red Pilled America suggests that Tim Ballard effectively framed an innocent woman as a child sex trafficker, attempting to put her in prison for decades for a crime she never committed. And the sting operation Ballard used to condemn her? It spawned dozens of the same type of trafficking victims he's long claimed to be liberating. Which raised the question, were Christians conned by Tim Ballard?

1
Speaker 1
[00:05:32.30 - 00:05:42.52]

Now, Kelly Johanna Suarez is speaking out exclusively to Red Pilled America to tell her side of this stunning story. This is her first interview since the film's launch.

3
Speaker 3
[00:05:43.08 - 00:05:54.04]

But before we hear from Suarez, we need to take you back to the real-life Colombian sting. The one that would eventually become the plot of Sound of Freedom, and change her life forever.

1
Speaker 1
[00:06:03.26 - 00:06:15.90]

It was October 11, 2014, and Tim Ballard organized what would later be branded as a monumental event in the liberation of child sex slaves. It turned out to be the biggest rescue operation.

2
Speaker 2
[00:06:15.90 - 00:06:18.28]

that we ever did, I think, in the history of the world.

[00:06:20.40 - 00:06:22.94]

As the story goes, Ballard corralled.

1
Speaker 1
[00:06:22.94 - 00:06:34.00]

all of Cartagena, Colombia's child sex traffickers, to one island in hopes of saving over 50 child sex slaves, kids that had been kidnapped from their parents and forced to participate in.

2
Speaker 2
[00:06:34.00 - 00:06:44.64]

unspeakable sex acts. We look at catalogs. They show us the kids on phones. We don't let them bring new kids. These are kids we have proof, have already been abused multiple times before we even showed up.

[00:06:44.92 - 00:06:47.40]

These are kids that need rescuing. With his new rescue.

1
Speaker 1
[00:06:47.40 - 00:07:05.80]

non-profit, Operation Underground Railroad, or OUR, he rigged the island destination with cameras. The trap was set. Once the children arrived at the island, his team locked them in a cabana. Ballard then brought the alleged traffickers to one table. for the most important part.

[00:07:06.22 - 00:07:34.10]

He'd record them making incriminating statements, while CTI, Colombia's version of the FBI, were watching from a live video feed from boats offshore. Then, once he paid them, that would be the cue for CTI to raid the island, arrest the monsters, and save the children. As the sting progressed, everything seemed to be going as Ballard planned. But once the transaction was made, no boats stormed the island's shores. Something was wrong.

2
Speaker 2
[00:07:34.44 - 00:07:42.36]

I don't hear the engines. I walk to the edge of the island and to the edge of the house on the dock. I don't hear the engines. The Colombian cop is sweating in the corner. I walk over to him.

[00:07:42.38 - 00:07:55.26]

I said, what's going on? He says, look, I didn't, I wasn't watching my texts. What happened was the social workers, the aftercare providers, come in on the end of that stick. They come in. When the cops raid, they come right in after.

[00:07:55.30 - 00:08:01.04]

That's their policy. That's our policy. So the children know right away, you are safe. You're not in trouble. We're here to help you.

[00:08:02.12 - 00:08:23.94]

And what happened that morning was the social workers both broke down. And no one, and the texts were coming through, but no one was looking at them. And they said, you are not, the cops said, we have been ordered not to raid. But we'll probably be able to raid in about 30 minutes. And I'm thinking we're going to.

1
Speaker 1
[00:08:23.94 - 00:08:40.04]

be dead in 30 minutes. So Ballard thought fast. He came up with an idea for a new criminal business venture and presented it to the alleged traffickers. They began exploring the concept and the stall tactic lasted just long enough to give CTI the time they needed.

2
Speaker 2
[00:08:48.80 - 00:08:52.92]

To the ground. Everyone to the ground. Silence.

[00:08:54.78 - 00:08:59.94]

Get on the ground. Nearly 60 suspected child.

1
Speaker 1
[00:08:59.94 - 00:09:17.02]

sex slaves were found by Colombian authorities. Five suspected traffickers were arrested, four men and one Colombian woman. And it was this one woman that would capture the imagination of Colombian media. They said she was a former beauty queen turned child pimp.

2
Speaker 2
[00:09:23.14 - 00:09:47.38]

The 20 year old woman is accused of being part of a network of child sex trafficking that offered children to foreign pedophiles at parties in Cartagena. Apparently, she was engaged in recruiting minors to induce them into prostitution. She is Kelly Johanna Suarez. She is 20 years old, a professional model. And less than a year ago, she was parading as a candidate for the popular queen crown.

[00:09:47.62 - 00:09:55.44]

She is now accused of recruiting minors for prostitution and charging between $250 and $1,500 for them to pedophiles, mostly foreigners.

[00:09:57.04 - 00:10:01.90]

The crime of pimping has a minimum penalty of 14 years, as established by criminal law.

1
Speaker 1
[00:10:01.90 - 00:10:28.14]

and is considered extremely serious. The scandal quickly reached America's shores. And it was one report in particular that would catapult Tim Ballard into the company of superheroes. Last weekend, police broke up a major sex trafficking ring in Colombia, which has become a destination for tourists looking for sex with boys and girls. The police had help from an American who went undercover to rescue the children.

2
Speaker 2
[00:10:29.00 - 00:10:54.26]

Tim Ballard has one mission to track down child traffickers. Four months ago, Colombian authorities asked him to investigate a tip that children were being sold there as sex slaves. Within a half hour, this individual walks up to me, starts asking me what I'm here for, what I want. And within minutes, he says, well, I've got, I've got kids as young as 11 years old. How they find these kids is?

[00:10:54.26 - 00:11:01.82]

they lure them in by pretending to have a modeling agency. They target them at 9 or 10 years old. And they were telling us that about by 11, they're ready for.

1
Speaker 1
[00:11:01.82 - 00:11:12.76]

sex. They're ready to be sold. The segment was opened by the same personality that hosts 60 Minutes, one of the most decorated investigative reporting shows of all time. Tim Ballard had.

2
Speaker 2
[00:11:12.76 - 00:11:22.74]

arrived. Less than 24 hours after the operatives landed, the suspected traffickers arrived on the island. And the final deal, the undercover team began.

[00:11:25.60 - 00:12:00.96]

Fifty four boys and girls aged 11 to 18 were ushered in for what had been billed as a sex party. They were given candy and drinks and told to wait in this small room. This little 11 year old boy, I remember he asked one of my operatives if they could give him some cocaine or something. He said they usually give me something because I'm really scared. Twenty five Colombian special operatives stormed the party, arresting five suspects, four men and one former beauty queen, all charged with child trafficking.

[00:12:02.74 - 00:12:34.28]

The victims, 29 of whom are under 18,, were evacuated, given medical exams and placed in a rehabilitation center where specialists are working to undo the damage. Right before I got in the boat, we had to walk by this room where the kids were, and they put their hand up and I touched their hand and see that there's liberation now. Liberating one child at a time. A new kind of hero was born.

1
Speaker 1
[00:12:34.28 - 00:12:52.34]

whose sole mission was to save children. It was an extremely touching story. The only problem was the island sting was a scam. More reality TV show than legitimate sting operation. Because, you see, not a single child discovered at the raid was a sex slave.

[00:12:52.82 - 00:13:10.08]

None had ever been trafficked before that day. Only one person at the raid was under Colombia's legal age of consent. Most were adults, as old as 30.. Every single alleged victim on the island went there willingly. Like extras on a TV show, many were being paid just to attend.

[00:13:10.90 - 00:13:20.36]

What Tim Ballard pulled off was a new kind of con, a rescue ruse, the likes of which Americans had never seen before. And it had devastating results.

2
Speaker 2
[00:13:21.80 - 00:13:27.60]

They stole my independence. They stole my life. They stole my dreams. Kelly, Johanna Suarez,

1
Speaker 1
[00:13:27.84 - 00:13:32.68]

a Christian woman, believes that his stunt will eventually lead to a day of reckoning for Tim.

2
Speaker 2
[00:13:32.68 - 00:13:47.00]

Ballard. I want to say something directly to Tim Ballard. And it is that, as he used his phrase, God's children are not for sale. I want to tell him that God cannot be mocked. God cannot be used.

[00:16:46.59 - 00:17:08.07]

Ballard's flair for fabricating heroic stories is nothing new. It goes back at least to the birth of his child rescue organization. In late 2013,. Tim Ballard was working for the Department of Homeland Security as a special agent, assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. But on the side, he was looking to raise money for a novel concept.

[00:17:08.89 - 00:17:37.63]

Ballard wanted to privatize the rescue of child sex slaves, so he turned to a new friend and asked for a meeting. He'd met the conservative media pioneer Glenn Beck when Ballard was promoting a book he'd written, Beck is a Devout Mormon. Ballard was also a Mormon, who'd served his two-year mission in Chile, where he learned to speak Spanish fluently. And Ballard came with major credentials. Besides being a DHS agent working to stop crimes against children, he was well-connected in the Mormon church.

[00:17:38.33 - 00:17:46.49]

Beck agreed to meet. In his pitch, Ballard told Beck the heartbreaking story behind his inspiration to become a child slave liberator. Beck would.

2
Speaker 2
[00:17:46.49 - 00:18:06.23]

eventually share it with his audience. Not long ago, a horrific video of a five-year-old boy being sexually abused in the worst way was discovered by U.S. authorities. The boy was five and his 12-year-old sister. They had been kidnapped and they had been trafficked back and forth between the U.S.

[00:18:06.23 - 00:18:19.71]

and Mexico. Both were sex slaves to a monster of a man. Well, something happened. Divine Providence stepped in, and it took place at the U.S.-Mexico border. The boy was seen by a U.S.

[00:18:19.83 - 00:18:23.55]

official who knew who he was, identified, the boy in the video,

3
Speaker 3
[00:18:24.33 - 00:18:37.19]

and the boy was rescued from the monster. The story that Beck was describing was the 2006 case of Earl Venton Buchanan, but with some major discrepancies. A friend of mine, who I didn't.

2
Speaker 2
[00:18:37.19 - 00:18:52.93]

know what he did for a living, he had a whole front story. I had no idea. He told me one day, I need to meet with you. And so I met with him and he told me what he really did. He is an undercover operative who infiltrates and dismantles child trafficking rings.

[00:18:53.51 - 00:19:21.73]

He was one of the first on the scenes with that five-year-old boy. That little boy jumped into the arms of my friend, who tearfully held him, told him he was safe, the kid would not let go, fearful that he's going to fall back into the dark hands of that monster again. It took a while, but after he realized he was safe, he gave my friend a gift. It's a gift of a necklace. It's this necklace.

[00:19:22.47 - 00:19:42.95]

It reads, man of God, pursue godliness, faith, and love. That necklace meant everything to the child. It represented his only hope. It was given to him by his sister, his last prayer. His older sister gave it to him and said, wear it and pray that God will rescue us.

[00:19:44.05 - 00:20:00.39]

Their united prayer was answered at last. And they passed that prayer on to my friend, who told me tearfully, I can't stop, Glenn. How do I stop? How do I? I know we can rescue more people.

[00:20:01.51 - 00:20:11.75]

He was wearing this necklace as a reminder of what the story represents, the most cruel form of slavery that has ever existed. Yes,

3
Speaker 3
[00:20:12.07 - 00:20:17.57]

slavery still exists. Ballard would tell this story to major media personalities over the.

2
Speaker 2
[00:20:17.57 - 00:20:29.75]

coming years. An American man was kidnapping children in Mexico, smuggling them into the United States. And I recognized him from the video. No way. The little boy had a necklace, that little boy, the five-year-old.

[00:20:30.69 - 00:20:44.13]

And his sister had given him the necklace when they were separated by Buchanan. And it was a little dog tag. And he gave it to me. You know, he knew I had to go find his sister now. Oh, no.

[00:20:44.55 - 00:20:46.71]

None questioned the details. And that's.

3
Speaker 3
[00:20:46.71 - 00:20:56.31]

likely because either most couldn't have imagined someone with his credentials would play loose with the facts about a child rape story, or they didn't want to be labeled by Ballard and his team.

2
Speaker 2
[00:20:56.71 - 00:21:11.05]

Having seen the movie, I don't understand what is political about this. Why is it being called a fantasy? Why is it saying you're going to get brain worms, you know, metaphorically speaking? Unless they're pedophiles. I don't know.

[00:21:11.13 - 00:21:14.49]

I don't have any evidence. You have any evidence? I don't have any evidence. But maybe. I don't know.

[00:21:14.51 - 00:21:20.19]

They're involved in the crime. Maybe. I don't know. They are involved in running interference. Wittingly or not, they are running interference.

3
Speaker 3
[00:21:20.19 - 00:21:31.45]

for human traffickers. Ballard has consistently suggested that those that question his work are at least as bad as child traffickers, perhaps worse. The greatest threat to children right now,

2
Speaker 2
[00:21:31.89 - 00:21:37.59]

honestly, more than the traffickers in a lot of cases, are people that disparage.

3
Speaker 3
[00:21:37.59 - 00:22:13.49]

others in the nonprofit industry. Ballard appeared to be exploiting a vulnerability in the human condition, one that shields alleged pedophile hunters from criticism. The dog tag moment, as it would come to be known, would go on to become the premise of The Sound of Freedom, the symbol of hope that was used by the hero of the film, Jim Caviezel, playing Tim Ballard. But as Red Pilled America reported in 2023, the dog tag story is a fabrication. Through court filings and documents obtained in a freedom of information request, we showed that Tim Ballard was not telling the truth about the incident.

[00:22:13.99 - 00:22:39.44]

He didn't know who the was and didn't identify him in a video before he was saved. The boy was not kidnapped from Mexico. Federal prosecutors, under penalty of perjury, insisted that Tim Ballard did not interview the child victim. And Ballard himself authored a report where he was required to divulge interactions with the child victim in the case. He declared he asked the boy no questions related to the crime under investigation.

[00:22:40.28 - 00:23:09.32]

He insisted he never interviewed the boy in the manner he'd later tell the world. There was also no record in the court documents of a dog tag being exchanged between the boy and Ballard, which would have been evidence in the case. In other words, the dog tag moment didn't happen. We repeatedly contacted Tim Ballard in 2023, hoping for a response to our findings. After our initial reporting, a Ballard representative contacted us stating Ballard agreed to an interview.

[00:23:10.02 - 00:23:31.10]

A date was set, but as the interview approached, Ballard canceled. Glenn Beck commented on our findings in 2023, stating in part, if your journalistic work is the final word on this, this is the first and most manipulative lie, he told me. But in 2013,, wanting to save children, Beck asked his audience to support Ballard's.

2
Speaker 2
[00:23:31.10 - 00:24:02.22]

new rescue outfit. I would like to introduce you to a website called Operation Underground Railroad.org, and I would like you to bring this to your churches, and I would like you to inform yourself and others, as many as you can. I'd like you to put this on your Facebook, and I'd like you to tweet this. Millstone around people's necks that are involved in this. And, I think, great and powerful blessings to anybody who can help free these children.

[00:24:03.04 - 00:24:17.28]

Operation Underground Railroad will show you exactly how they are going to rescue these children and what it will take. But we need your tax-free dollars. Now, I want you to know. this is not something that I am doing.

3
Speaker 3
[00:24:17.72 - 00:24:44.56]

This is something that I truly believe in. His audience answered the call, reportedly crashing the donation servers. With hundreds of thousands pouring into his coffers, Ballard quit his government job. He'd eventually head to an American tourist spot in Cartagena, Colombia, called Baru Island, filming all along the way. He says that within minutes of walking on the beach, he was approached by a man named Fuego, who was offering up children for sex.

[00:24:45.46 - 00:25:07.72]

According to Colombian officials, Ballard first contacted a CTI agent named Elkin Peña and informed him of Fuego's offer. Peña got authorization to be stationed in the town of Baru to work with Ballard. Ballard would eventually meet Fuego's alleged superior, a man named Eduardo. And, as Ballard would later explain, Eduardo was a new kind of monster.

Speaker 2
[00:25:07.72 - 00:25:28.62]

And he presented to me the most evil business plan I'd ever seen in my life. And he talked about this property that he just bought, just a 45-minute boat ride from Cartagena, these beautiful islands. He bought a few acres and he says, I need to build a hotel. But it's not a hotel, it's going to be a sex club. And I'm going to bring, it's going to cater to tourists who come in and it's going to be filled with children.

3
Speaker 3
[00:25:29.04 - 00:25:35.10]

But this was another fabrication. Remember the stalling tactic Ballard had to perform to avoid.

2
Speaker 2
[00:25:35.10 - 00:25:39.68]

being killed by the traffickers? And what happened that morning was the social worker's.

3
Speaker 3
[00:25:39.68 - 00:26:03.22]

boat broke down. This was actually the moment where the child sex hotel idea was floated, and it wasn't conceived by the alleged traffickers. A TV series was produced on Ballard's rescue operations called The Abolitionists, and the first two episodes focus on the Colombian island raid. In it, it's clear that Tim Ballard came up with the idea for a child brothel, not Eduardo.

2
Speaker 2
[00:26:06.10 - 00:26:14.46]

Is it possible to keep doing these kinds of parties here in a hotel? Do you know how to do that? Edward, is it possible? Of course.

3
Speaker 3
[00:26:14.94 - 00:26:27.82]

It was another Ballard fabrication. And then he put the words into Eduardo's mouth. This is something that Ballard and his team do repeatedly. A perfect example is when the alleged traffickers arrive at the sting event.

[00:26:33.14 - 00:26:53.18]

The caption reads, Boss, these kids are all for you. But what the person actually says is, Boss, this is all for you. There's no mention of kids. But that would become a modus operandi for Ballard. He'd insert the words kids or children when talking about his rescue operations, even when referring to adults.

[00:26:54.18 - 00:27:02.30]

Another glaring example of this is when the alleged Colombian child sex slaves arrive for the boat to the island. I had met the traffickers at the harbor.

2
Speaker 2
[00:27:02.30 - 00:27:05.20]

to take them to the house, and they had prepped the children well.

3
Speaker 3
[00:27:08.06 - 00:27:25.36]

Even with their faces blurred, they don't look like children. They look like the age of music festival goers. And when we dug a little deeper, we learned more about Ballard's tactic. Liner Salcedo. He's one of the alleged children Ballard claims to have saved at his Colombian island raid.

2
Speaker 2
[00:27:25.78 - 00:27:32.26]

When you saw the movie, you saw this operation in Cartagena, on the island.

[00:27:35.54 - 00:27:38.50]

And yes, this was nine years ago when we did this operation.

[00:27:40.54 - 00:27:49.92]

And there were 54 survivors, as you saw in the movie. And I want you to meet two of them, who are now adults and are with us.

3
Speaker 3
[00:27:53.26 - 00:27:57.78]

But when we looked into Salcedo, Ballard's, deception is further revealed.

[00:27:59.38 - 00:28:24.88]

Red Pilled America has acquired evidence and documents from the Colombian trial for the October 11, 2014 raid. One document includes the list of alleged children Ballard claims to have rescued from the island raid. And when we looked for Liner Salcedo, we found that on the day of the raid, Salcedo was 18 years old. He was an adult. Yet his face is blurred in the abolitionist series, suggesting he was a child.

[00:28:25.50 - 00:28:35.90]

Ballard and the filmmakers he works with constantly use this tactic. And we'd soon learn that not a single person from Ballard's famed Colombian raid was a child sex slave.

I'm Ben out of half free host of the history podcast, The Last Archive, and I want to tell you about a new series running in our feed. It's called The Deadline, and it features six essays written and read by Jill Lepore, the New Yorker writer, American historian and founding host of our show. These are incredible essays on everything from the history of cryogenics to the Silicon Valley gospel of disruption, and at the end of each essay, I interviewed Jill about her craft as a writer and how she's thinking about the themes of these essays. now. We talk Frankenstein, we talk writing leads, we talk Barbie, we talk Doctor Who.

[00:30:15.78 - 00:30:33.54]

This is a crazy origin story. I don't think I've ever told this before. I really loved having these conversations with Jill, and it was a rare chance to talk to her about how she goes about reading, writing, and the work of history. You can listen to The Deadline on The Last Archive feed, on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

[00:30:40.12 - 00:31:04.50]

My name is Michael Wolff, and I'm the host of Fire and Fury, the podcast. Not too long ago, I saw Donald Trump, and he shouted, hey, Michael, I made you rich. And the truth is, my three books about Trump, they have sold a lot of copies. It all started eight years ago. I found myself in Donald Trump's Beverly Hills home, sharing Häagen-Dazs ice cream with him.

[00:31:05.48 - 00:31:36.40]

I asked him, why was he running for president? And he answered, without missing a beat, because I want to be the most famous man in the world. Since then, I've become a go-to person when Trump and those around him want to talk. And now, every week, I'm going to share those insider stories with you. Listen to Fire and Fury, the podcast, on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

3
Speaker 3
[00:31:37.18 - 00:31:48.92]

So, after meeting, Eduardo, Ballard says he and his team decided to pose as wealthy real estate developers who were in Colombia looking for a good time. He said Eduardo claimed he needed big.

2
Speaker 2
[00:31:48.92 - 00:31:58.28]

money to develop his sex hotel. It's going to cater to tourists who come in, and it's going to be filled with children. And I said, well, what do you need? He said, I need a million dollars. I said, that's easy.

[00:31:59.02 - 00:32:06.20]

I'll get you a million dollars. I said, the problem is, you only have 15 kids. That's not a good business. I need to know, there needs to be more kids.

3
Speaker 3
[00:32:06.70 - 00:32:25.90]

Again, this entire premise is not true, because the idea for a child sex hotel didn't arise until Ballard brought it up right before the raid. But going on with Ballard's story, he claimed he wanted to save as many children as possible. So he asked Eduardo for more kids than the alleged trafficker had in his roster.

2
Speaker 2
[00:32:26.16 - 00:32:38.42]

So he thought about it and eventually did what I was hoping he would do, which was to call all of his competitors. And he brings all his competitors to the table, all the other traffickers in town. So now that number went to 50..

3
Speaker 3
[00:32:38.42 - 00:32:44.10]

Ballard claimed that two of the other alleged traffickers were Samuel and Kelly Johanna Suarez.

2
Speaker 2
[00:32:44.54 - 00:33:00.46]

Her name is Kelly Suarez. Kelly was Miss Cartagena 2012.. Beautiful model, famous in town. She won Miss Cartagena on the platform that she was going to help the impoverished youth of Colombia. And she did.

[00:33:01.48 - 00:33:22.06]

Apparently, she was giving out scholarships to nine and 10 year old boys and girls to come to learn how to be a model at her school. And some of these kids showed up from Guatemala and Honduras and other places. And it was all a fraud. She was using that to lure children out and kidnap them and then sell.

3
Speaker 3
[00:33:22.06 - 00:33:34.22]

them. But there is no evidence supporting this claim. Kelly Suarez was never Miss Cartagena. There's no evidence that she gave scholarships to children. There's not even evidence that she ever had a modeling school.

[00:33:34.76 - 00:33:52.86]

There's no evidence of her kidnapping children. And Ballard's team is never seen giving her any payment for pimping kids. It was all another wild Ballard fabrication. And that's not just conjecture. We've looked at the evidence and documents in the Colombian trial for the October 11th, 2014 operation.

[00:33:53.16 - 00:33:56.64]

And they tell a completely different story about the island raid than Tim Ballard.

[00:33:58.38 - 00:34:13.06]

In the Colombian indictment, prosecutors claim that Suarez, accompanied by alleged trafficker Samuel, brought 26 alleged girls and six alleged boys to the island party. But the actual evidence shows that Miss Suarez was not a trafficker.

2
Speaker 2
[00:34:13.08 - 00:34:23.50]

If anything, she was the opposite. One day, I received an invitation from my friend Samuel Olive via Facebook. And he told me that there was a trip planned to an island.

3
Speaker 3
[00:34:23.50 - 00:34:28.86]

According to Miss Suarez, Samuel said that the trip was being organized by rich Americans.

2
Speaker 2
[00:34:29.58 - 00:34:38.94]

I was a model, but not a professional one. It was just here in the city of Cartagena. And my dream, more than anything, was to grow professionally in modeling.

3
Speaker 3
[00:34:39.58 - 00:34:58.40]

By any measure, Miss Suarez was not a professional model. Her modeling career consisted of two noteworthy events. She'd been selected to represent her poor Abrero neighborhood in a Colombian Independence Day event. And she was an extra in a music video. You have to slow down the video just to notice her.

[00:34:59.30 - 00:35:01.78]

But she did aspire to become a professional model.

2
Speaker 2
[00:35:02.36 - 00:35:09.18]

I wanted to become known internationally. And since they were Americans, I saw an opportunity.

3
Speaker 3
[00:35:09.18 - 00:35:17.10]

in this. Suarez says she was told the island party was for singles and that the American paying for it wanted to meet a young black woman.

2
Speaker 2
[00:35:20.18 - 00:35:25.06]

It was like a singles party, something like that, where gringos, Americans, were going to be.

[00:35:26.80 - 00:35:35.98]

And if you wanted to meet them, establish a relationship with them, that's why I decided to go on that trip of my own free will. Nobody forced me to attend that place.

3
Speaker 3
[00:35:36.62 - 00:35:41.66]

At the time, Kelly was 20, but she looked 15,, which is likely why she was invited.

2
Speaker 2
[00:35:42.22 - 00:35:45.56]

I told him that I would like to attend the trip.

[00:35:47.82 - 00:35:53.36]

He said, well, let's meet up to talk a bit more and explain how it works. We met at a house.

[00:35:56.64 - 00:36:18.12]

When I arrived at that place, Samuel said, well, Kelly, look, this is a trip where there will be many Americans, businessmen, wealthy people, who can help you with your projects and your future dreams. I thought it was a fantastic idea. That's when, a few minutes later, Mr. Tim Ballard arrives and is introduced to me as one of the organizers of the event.

3
Speaker 3
[00:36:23.98 - 00:36:30.08]

After she met Ballard, Suarez says she was invited to meet the big boss. She decided to go.

2
Speaker 2
[00:36:33.08 - 00:36:39.64]

Well, then they wanted to introduce me to the supposed American who was going to help me with my projects and future dreams.

[00:36:41.58 - 00:36:46.62]

We were sitting at a table, and there was the supposed American who wanted to meet a black woman.

[00:36:51.34 - 00:37:02.90]

And that's when I saw Mr. Tim Ballard for the second time. I was sitting there at that table because I was just another guest. So I am not the major trafficker that Mr. Tim Ballard portrays.

3
Speaker 3
[00:37:03.44 - 00:37:07.02]

And Colombian CTI agents help corroborate Kelly's claim.

1
Speaker 1
[00:37:08.38 - 00:37:23.58]

Jorge Martez-Facet, one of the CTI agents working directly with Ballard, testified in the Colombian trial. He said that it appeared that Kelly was playing a passive role, and that it appeared like she was one of the people being offered up to the party organizers.

3
Speaker 3
[00:37:23.58 - 00:37:41.40]

She was exhibiting a more passive role there. It seemed that she was accompanying Samuel. But it also seemed that she was being offered, as if she was going to be part of the group among the young people, that he was putting on the table to make the event happen.

1
Speaker 1
[00:37:42.50 - 00:38:03.48]

Now, let's pause here for a second. If Ms. Suarez were the big child sex trafficker that Tim Ballard claims, wouldn't one of the lead CTI agents working on the case have known that? In the setting of a trial, when presented a video of Ms. Suarez, you'd expect one of the primary Colombian agents working on the case to say, yes, that's Kelly Johanna Suarez.

[00:38:03.84 - 00:38:25.84]

She was one of the major sex traffickers, especially with the massive press that followed the arrest. But he didn't. He stated that she appeared to be one of the women being offered up to the rich Americans. Ballard also provided footage to Colombian prosecutors in his attempt to convict Suarez. But instead of being incriminating, the footage helps exonerate her.

[00:38:26.68 - 00:38:37.14]

In one segment, undercover CTI agent Elkin Peña walks over to Suarez, holds up her arms, and presents her to the guy on Ballard's team playing the big money boss.

[00:38:42.08 - 00:38:42.72]

Again,

[00:38:46.04 - 00:38:50.44]

Agent Peña was Ballard's Colombian law enforcement contact.

2
Speaker 2
[00:38:53.06 - 00:39:10.92]

I went to meet a person who was a wealthy American, supposedly a businessman, who wanted to meet a simple black woman. And I decided to meet him because I saw it as an opportunity, that this person could help me with my projects. That's why I went to that place.

1
Speaker 1
[00:39:11.50 - 00:39:17.50]

We pressed Suarez on this point, asking if she was told that the boss wanted to have sex with her.

2
Speaker 2
[00:39:19.08 - 00:39:22.84]

Well, they told me that there would be wealthy Americans, a singles party,

[00:39:24.60 - 00:39:29.00]

and that if I wanted to go, I could. I assumed they wanted to meet someone.

[00:39:31.74 - 00:39:38.22]

It was my decision whether I wanted to have sexual relations with him or have a relationship with him as a boyfriend or partner.

1
Speaker 1
[00:39:39.46 - 00:39:50.74]

The primary video that Ballard uses to incriminate Suarez as a trafficker is a clip where he asks him well, if there were any limitations to the type of sex that could be had with the attendees.

2
Speaker 2
[00:39:56.44 - 00:40:04.28]

These are girls that aren't super experienced because they're little girls.

[00:40:06.12 - 00:40:14.70]

So try to have a little bit of a little bit delicate with them.

1
Speaker 1
[00:40:16.84 - 00:40:27.40]

Ballard has used this clip to claim that Suarez was asking Ballard's team to be delicate with her child slaves. We asked Suarez why she inserted the delicate comment.

2
Speaker 2
[00:40:30.70 - 00:40:34.74]

That part. If you notice, he is not having a conversation with me.

[00:40:36.50 - 00:40:53.50]

It turns out that the person who invites me on the trip, Samuel, who is the one who is having the conversation with Mr. Tim Ballard, he forgets the word he is going to say. And that's where I say delicate. It's the only thing I say there. Of course, I say this because I was also a guest on the trip.

1
Speaker 1
[00:40:57.56 - 00:41:36.78]

According to court filings, in a Utah defamation case, Suarez claims Ballard's team began talking about whether anal sex was on the table. In context, it's clear that she was actually concerned with how Ballard's team was going to treat her, because she was being offered up to them. And the Colombian court case reveals an even darker scenario. Two days before the sting, Ballard and the CTI agents organized a meeting with the alleged traffickers, Eduardo Samuel, a young man named Louis, and a young woman by the name of Natalie, who went by the alias Natty. A CTI agent on the case testified about the meeting.

3
Speaker 3
[00:41:39.34 - 00:41:41.18]

That day we met Samuel,

[00:41:43.52 - 00:41:47.42]

another one named Louis, who is a minor who later lost prominence in the.

1
Speaker 1
[00:41:47.42 - 00:42:04.32]

meetings and alias Natty. Kelly Suarez was not at this meeting. According to Colombian law enforcement, in this meeting, Natty claimed that she could obtain about 15 children, mainly from Cartagena's high schools, guaranteeing that the oldest person would be 16 years old.

2
Speaker 2
[00:42:04.96 - 00:42:11.38]

And Mr. Tim Ballard knew this because, according to the logs and the actual record, he was in.

1
Speaker 1
[00:42:11.38 - 00:42:39.38]

meetings with her. At that same meeting, Samuel claimed to work at a modeling school. CTI agents noted that Samuel said he could recruit children from the school. Red Pill Demerica has acquired Colombian court documents showing that prior to the raid, Colombian law enforcement was already filing paperwork accusing Natty of inducing people into prostitution, a crime in Colombia. They even pulled her fingerprints to verify her identity at the raid.

2
Speaker 2
[00:42:40.98 - 00:42:48.72]

What happened is that Natty attended three meetings, supposedly with minors, and this is in the actual record, in the logs.

[00:42:51.66 - 00:43:07.70]

But on the day of the trip, Natty did not go. We found out she did not go because she was pregnant. So, the only female sitting at that table was me. Therefore, the office of the attorney general of the nation imputed Natty's charges to me.

[00:43:09.42 - 00:43:15.24]

But I believe the focus was on me because the news revolved around the supposed queen.

[00:43:16.84 - 00:43:25.84]

So, everything Mr. Tim Ballard says about me searching for children in schools and high schools was actually done by Natty, according to the record, not by me.

1
Speaker 1
[00:43:26.36 - 00:43:51.84]

And this is where the unethical nature of Ballard's so-called rescue is exposed. Child sex trafficking experts have long argued that through his rescue operations, Tim Ballard was creating the demand for child sex slaves, an accusation he's vehemently denied. Ballard has countered this argument by insisting on many occasions that the children on the.

2
Speaker 2
[00:43:54.10 - 00:44:15.44]

We have a lot of ways to ensure that a child who hasn't been already taken is not taken. These are kids who are stuck in it already. We don't let them bring new kids. These are kids we have proof, have already been abused multiple times before we even showed up. These are kids that need rescuing.

[00:44:15.58 - 00:44:30.92]

Because every single one of these kids that we ultimately liberated were already a part. Several of them had been groomed for years. Since they're like nine years old. Since they're nine years old, they were drugged. They were shown pornography to make them pliant, so they would do whatever that was asked of them.

[00:44:31.16 - 00:44:37.06]

No one's been able to provide any proof of any operation that I've been a part of. that wasn't actually being taken.

1
Speaker 1
[00:44:37.30 - 00:44:57.70]

But that's also not true. Proof has been presented that exposes Ballard's most famous operation. Colombian doctor Rita Lapera questioned the alleged child sex slaves immediately after the island raid. During the Colombian trial, she was asked whether the suspected victims she interviewed were victims of any kind of sexual abuse.

2
Speaker 2
[00:45:00.84 - 00:45:05.30]

Did any of those young people tell you, or did you record in any of those reports?

[00:45:07.58 - 00:45:12.18]

any kind of sexual abuse? Them having been a victim of any kind of sexual abuse?

3
Speaker 3
[00:45:12.82 - 00:45:13.58]

No, señor.

1
Speaker 1
[00:45:14.50 - 00:45:29.10]

According to Ballard, these were all child sex slaves that needed to be rescued. Yet Dr. Lapera reported no sexual abuse from any of the people she interviewed. Dr. Lapera was asked how the suspected victims heard about the island party.

2
Speaker 2
[00:45:29.50 - 00:45:33.62]

What was the common denominator?

[00:45:35.52 - 00:45:40.86]

in the statements of these 10 young people you attended to regarding the reason for their stay on that island?

[00:45:43.18 - 00:45:44.86]

There were several responses.

[00:45:48.30 - 00:45:54.68]

Many said that they went to have fun, that they were given snacks, that there were American women, that there were American men.

1
Speaker 1
[00:45:55.34 - 00:46:12.66]

They were lured to the island several ways. Some said they were alerted to the party via a Facebook post. Some ultimately said a cousin or a friend. Others said Samuel, Fuego, Eduardo or Nati. Not a single person was invited by Kelly Johanna Suarez.

[00:46:13.46 - 00:46:34.80]

In one instance, a female attendee claimed that the message on Facebook stated that the island party was free and they were given 400,000 pesos just for attending. 400,000 pesos in 2014 was about 200 U.S. dollars, a lot of money for a poor person in a developing country. Okay, let's begin.

2
Speaker 2
[00:46:35.04 - 00:46:40.80]

Remind us of your full name. Well, my name is Pedro Flores Ramos. I am 17 years old.

1
Speaker 1
[00:46:41.26 - 00:46:51.08]

Another 17-year-old male named Pedro Flores Ramos was interviewed on the night of the Colombian island raid by aftercare workers, and he explained how he heard of the party.

2
Speaker 2
[00:46:52.00 - 00:46:55.20]

First of all, Wednesday, I was on Facebook.

[00:46:57.16 - 00:47:00.10]

because I'm one of those who connect every day on those devices.

[00:47:01.78 - 00:47:05.00]

I received a message. It says there is a big invitation.

[00:47:07.00 - 00:47:08.78]

It's a boat trip out of the city.

[00:47:10.42 - 00:47:14.28]

All expenses paid and there will be a lot of partying and there will be money.

[00:47:17.10 - 00:47:28.98]

There would be alcohol and music and besides that, lunch, food and dancing, and they were going to give us 400,000 Colombian pesos. 400,000 pesos for what? I don't know.

1
Speaker 1
[00:47:29.74 - 00:47:35.18]

Flores would later sign an affidavit further explaining the Facebook invitation that brought him to the party.

3
Speaker 3
[00:47:35.80 - 00:47:50.10]

I was informed of a Facebook party where North Americans would be present. This Facebook ad said that if you had sex with one of the Americans, you would be paid 1 million Colombian pesos and that all transportation, boat ride, food and alcohol would be included.

1
Speaker 1
[00:47:50.72 - 00:47:54.88]

1 million Colombian pesos in 2014 is about 500 U.

[00:47:54.88 - 00:47:57.20]

S. dollars. Flores went on.

3
Speaker 3
[00:47:57.44 - 00:48:08.24]

Based on that invitation, I decided to attend the party to be paid 400,000 Colombian pesos to attend the party. We went to the party with no intention of having sex with anyone.

1
Speaker 1
[00:48:09.04 - 00:48:12.46]

Flores himself even invited people to the island party.

2
Speaker 2
[00:48:12.90 - 00:48:18.68]

I told my father, I told some friends of mine and my cousin.

1
Speaker 1
[00:48:19.18 - 00:48:24.40]

He attended the party with a small entourage and you can see him in the footage amongst the festive crowd.

[00:48:27.18 - 00:48:49.46]

These people weren't kidnapped from their parents and held as child sex slaves, as Ballard and his team claimed. They were invited to an all-expenses-paid island trip to party with Americans, and if they wanted to have sex with the gringos, they'd receive a $500 bonus. But it was their choice. Contrast that with what Tim Ballard tearfully told the world.

2
Speaker 2
[00:48:49.78 - 00:49:07.64]

This little 11-year-old boy, I remember, he asked one of my operatives if they could give him some cocaine or something. He said they usually give me something because I'm really scared. This picture is just something so important to me. This little girl, she thinks she's about to be raped again. She's been told to get in position because the Americans are coming in.

[00:49:08.00 - 00:49:24.48]

But what she doesn't know, what we couldn't tell her, is that that wasn't going to happen ever again. That she was going to be liberated, and this was going to be done. Right before I got in the boat, we had to walk by this room where the kids were, and they put their hand up and I touched their hand and.

[00:49:27.24 - 00:49:29.60]

see that there's liberation now.

1
Speaker 1
[00:49:29.60 - 00:49:43.92]

In context, Ballard's statements. while holding back tears are jaw-dropping. There wasn't a single 11-year-old boy at the island raid. Ballard weaved an enormous fabrication, all while crying.

[00:49:49.88 - 00:50:11.92]

The people that went to the island party weren't part of a major child sex trafficking ring, as Ballard has claimed. They were people from a poor country trying to capitalize on an opportunity. Some wanted to meet the rich Americans in hopes of realizing their dreams. Others wanted to make a quick buck just for attending a party. And still others wanted to make money for willing sex acts.

[00:50:12.46 - 00:50:32.80]

You see, prostitution is legal in Colombia. And, perhaps most notably, the age of consent in the country is 14 years of age. However, Colombians cannot legally become so-called sex workers until they're 18.. Now, prostitution might be legal, but pimping is not. So Ballard appeared to be exploiting a loophole in Colombian law.

[00:50:34.38 - 00:51:06.36]

If he could just get people to work as the middlemen for willing prostitutes, he could get the middlemen arrested for pimping and make it look like he was saving innocent kids. Colombia was the perfect place to make Tim Ballard look as if he were a hero saving children from sex slavery. And Colombia isn't the only South American country with these conditions. Places like Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Ecuador are all places where Ballard claims he's organized operations. And they're all countries where prostitution is legal.

[00:51:06.80 - 00:51:19.00]

He and his team enter these poor communities and wave around a wad of cash, which attracts some low-level street hustlers. In the case of the Colombian island raid, the alleged traffickers were set to make big money.

2
Speaker 2
[00:51:19.00 - 00:51:24.10]

By the time the deal was done, the alleged traffickers were set to make $25,000.

1
Speaker 1
[00:51:24.78 - 00:51:28.96]

The average annual salary in 2014 Colombia was $6,000.

[00:51:29.82 - 00:52:03.68]

. When Ballard's undercover team negotiates with them about bringing prostitutes to their sex party, they push for más frescas, or young girls. Pimps sometimes offer adults that look like minors. But if Ballard could get an actual minor to the party, one that simply wanted to make the $200 for attending, Ballard could claim he was saving children from sex slavery, even if he'd created the situation for them to be trafficked. He'd then put on a show through a loud, gun-toting raid by a corrupt government and film it all for his documentaries and reality series.

[00:52:04.14 - 00:52:37.24]

This is what appeared to happen in Cartagena, and the evidence in the Colombian trial helps validate this conclusion. Ultimately, by hosting the sex party, Tim Ballard created the demand for child sex slaves and put many innocent children through a traumatic experience, where someone could have been killed. And to top it all off, a few months after the island raid, CTI agent Elkin Peña attempted to extort a Colombian mayor. A Colombian court eventually found him guilty of abuse of public office. for taking bribes.

[00:52:37.62 - 00:52:55.72]

He was sentenced to almost 11 years in prison. Peña went on the run. He's currently a fugitive in hiding. This was Tim Ballard's primary Colombian law enforcement contact for the island raid. We asked Suarez for her thoughts on why the Colombian prosecution didn't go after Natty.

2
Speaker 2
[00:52:56.56 - 00:53:04.34]

We suppose here, with my defense, that they did not do it because the focus and the media show at that moment was on the queen, which was me.

[00:53:07.80 - 00:53:11.92]

I believe that when I was captured, they caused a stir by calling me a queen.

[00:53:13.64 - 00:53:16.54]

And that's when the nickname, Ms. Cartagena, was born.

[00:53:18.68 - 00:53:28.00]

But the media here in Colombia knew that I was not a queen. I was not Ms. Cartagena, nor had I represented in a national or international pageant.

[00:53:30.18 - 00:53:37.10]

They knew that I was a neighborhood queen. But I think that to make the news more sensational, they labeled me as Ms. Cartagena.

1
Speaker 1
[00:53:37.66 - 00:54:00.12]

With Natty a no-show and Kelly Suarez filmed seated at the table during the raid, the reality show apparently could go on. It appears that Tim Ballard simply placed Natty and Samuel's claims onto Kelly, Johanna Suarez, effectively framing her for the crime of pimping child sex slaves. And he did it with the help of a corrupt Colombian law enforcement agent.

[00:54:03.36 - 00:54:19.78]

Suarez and the four others arrested in the island raid were all thrown in Colombian prisons. The suspected trafficker, Luis, who brought 10 girls to the party, he, was immediately set free. And why? Well, it turned out he was a minor. So they didn't prosecute him.

[00:54:20.14 - 00:54:30.24]

It wouldn't have looked good if a raid claiming to save minors actually created a minor trafficker. Suarez spent 18 months in jail.

2
Speaker 2
[00:54:30.62 - 00:54:43.16]

Where I saw horrible things that I never imagined seeing at my young age. Fights, drugs, and death. Depressed people trying to commit suicide. Drug addiction and many other things.

[00:54:45.52 - 00:54:55.76]

It was such a great pain and helplessness that I felt when my mother came to visit me. I am an only child. So you can imagine how my mother felt and how I felt when she left that place.

1
Speaker 1
[00:54:56.32 - 00:55:15.24]

When Colombian prosecutors failed to bring a case against her, she was released, along with the others, pending further hearings and a trial. To date, the five arrested on the island raid have not been convicted of child sex trafficking. The statute of limitations runs out on the case in October 2024..

3
Speaker 3
[00:55:15.94 - 00:55:37.74]

But none of this stopped the team behind The Sound of Freedom to brand Suarez as a guilty monster that sold children into sex slavery. Because if Kelly Johanna Suarez was not the model turned child pimp the filmmakers claimed her to be, they no longer had a true story. To promote the film, the team turned to just about every faith-based outlet in America.

2
Speaker 2
[00:55:38.20 - 00:56:19.40]

But I do know this, that Jim Caviezel loves Jesus, and I love Jesus, and so that's a really good starting point. Our love for God's children has got to be greater than our fear of evil, just as our love for Jesus Christ has got to be greater than our fear of the cross. She said to me, these are a direct quote, she said, I will not let you jeopardize my salvation by not doing this. Jesus carried me like a child and held me like a lamb. So, at the end of the day, because we're going to die and we're going to answer to God, and every day I think about this, how am I using my life?

[00:56:19.50 - 00:56:30.72]

Isn't it funny when we said, this is The Sound of Freedom, who would have thought that that was going to be a movie that millions of people were going to watch? eight years later? It's just crazy to see how God works.

3
Speaker 3
[00:56:31.00 - 00:57:04.88]

They constantly pushed their Christian bona fides front and center to rally believers to their cause. And they did this all while the alleged hero of the film was trying to put an innocent Christian woman behind bars for 20 years. It wasn't long after the film launched that news quietly broke that Tim Ballard was ousted from the non-profit organization he founded. Questions about his operations slowly began to surface. For years, Ballard had been claiming that America was the biggest culprit in child sex trafficking.

[00:57:05.40 - 00:57:22.46]

If that were true, why were all his operations in foreign countries with corrupt governments? Some, like Red Pilled America, began applying pressure on him to come clean on his past exaggerations and outright fabrications. Even his supporters were finding his stories hard to believe.

1
Speaker 1
[00:57:22.46 - 00:57:27.66]

The story is almost so bizarre, you go, they must have made a lot of this up.

2
Speaker 2
[00:57:27.92 - 00:57:35.18]

No, it doesn't even seem real. I know. You tell these stories, and so much of it sounds unreal.

3
Speaker 3
[00:57:35.90 - 00:57:44.98]

Seemingly under pressure, Ballard began telling the world that the children he'd saved in the Colombian raid that inspired the movie would soon come out to tell their story.

2
Speaker 2
[00:57:45.34 - 00:57:58.74]

So we're bringing them up in August. I want you to be there. We don't know where, but we're going to bring them up because they want to say, we're the guys in the movie. Let me tell you, because they're adults now and they want to talk. These kids are real and I'm going to see them, by the way, in Bogota next weekend at the premiere.

[00:57:59.24 - 00:58:07.88]

Those children are now young adults. They will be telling their story. We're bringing them up in a month or two. We have a bunch of them coming to the Bogota premiere, right? Yes, correct.

[00:58:08.06 - 00:58:11.44]

I think at least 15 of the 54 on the island are going to be there.

3
Speaker 3
[00:58:11.78 - 00:58:22.72]

But that was also not true. Red Pilled America acquired a voice, memo Ballard sent to the Angel Studios team, and in it, that 15 survivors number whittled down quite a bit.

2
Speaker 2
[00:58:23.06 - 00:58:35.46]

Probably six of them, seven of them maybe would come. Could we arrange that? Could we arrange for them to get down and take care of them there? Like I've been dying. I've been saying in almost every press interview, like wait till these kids come out and tell their story.

3
Speaker 3
[00:58:35.76 - 00:58:46.02]

But when the event arrived, Ballard could only produce two alleged survivors from the Colombian sting. One was Lanier Salcedo, an adult at the time of the raid. And the other?

2
Speaker 2
[00:58:46.02 - 00:58:56.04]

I've been in close contact with the actual kids that were rescued on the island operation, including the kid who's Simba in real life. His name is Pedro Flores.

3
Speaker 3
[00:58:56.50 - 00:59:09.58]

This was the same Pedro Flores Ramos that claimed he went to the island party to make the $200 for attending. Ballard, claimed that Flores was 11 years old when he allegedly saved him in the Colombian island raid.

2
Speaker 2
[00:59:09.70 - 00:59:13.92]

He's an adult now, right? He's like 19 years old. It'd been like eight years.

3
Speaker 3
[00:59:13.92 - 00:59:16.10]

But Flores wasn't 11.

[00:59:16.46 - 00:59:33.08]

. There wasn't a single 11-year-old found at the raid. Flores was 17 years old. Flores would eventually do an American interview, where he confessed that the one and only time he'd ever been trafficked was on October 11, 2014.. Oh, OK.

[00:59:33.20 - 00:59:37.44]

So he wasn't in this for years or months?

2
Speaker 2
[00:59:39.26 - 00:59:47.28]

Was it months or years? How long was it? No, not in trafficking. It was one day, completely one day.

3
Speaker 3
[00:59:47.50 - 00:59:53.22]

Flores also claimed that the others from the island raid had also only been trafficked that one day.

2
Speaker 2
[00:59:53.78 - 00:59:55.58]

Also the others too, one day?

[00:59:58.20 - 01:00:00.12]

Also one day. Everyone was one day.

3
Speaker 3
[01:00:00.70 - 01:00:35.64]

In 2024, Flores also signed an affidavit stating that prior to October 11, 2014, he'd never been a subject of sex trafficking. He also declared prior to the island raid he did not know Kelly Suarez and that at no time had she invited him to the party or promised him money. In other words, Tim Ballard's alleged child survivor of the island raid both exonerates Kelly Johanna Suarez and proves Ballard creates demand for child trafficking victims. And again, Flores wasn't a child sex slave. He went there willingly for the $200 attendance payment.

[01:00:35.64 - 01:00:39.92]

He was just another extra in Ballard's rescue ruse reality show.

[01:00:41.72 - 01:00:51.38]

And why did Flores and Lina Salcedo come out to speak as island raid survivors? Well, we can't be certain, but it should be noted that they receive money from Ballard.

2
Speaker 2
[01:00:51.44 - 01:00:59.50]

They have a foundation called Tejiendo Sueños, Weaving Dreams. I have foundations that are supporting them, including the Spear Fund and others.

3
Speaker 3
[01:01:01.70 - 01:01:05.74]

Which leads us back to the question, were Christians conned by Tim Ballard?

2
Speaker 2
[01:01:06.18 - 01:01:10.24]

The true heroes. are you, our supporters.

3
Speaker 3
[01:01:10.64 - 01:01:34.18]

Well, Sound of Freedom and Operation Underground Railroad have collectively generated roughly half a billion dollars on a bogus story. Some would call that perhaps the biggest con on Christians in modern history. For years, Tim Ballard has been claiming he saves kids who were already trapped as sex slaves. But that is simply not true. And the Columbian Island Raid proves it.

[01:01:34.62 - 01:02:10.84]

Kelly Johanna Suarez is now suing Angel Studios, Operation Underground Railroad, and Tim Ballard for recklessly portraying her as a guilty monster that sold children into sex slavery. The filmmakers have separately tried different arguments to dismiss the case. In one attempt, they claim the character Katie Giselle was never meant to represent Kelly. They point to a disclaimer near the end of the film credits, which states that some of the characters were invented, but the filmmakers were sure to let the world know that Katie Giselle was in fact Kelly Johanna Suarez. They included a clip of Suarez at the end of the film.

[01:02:11.40 - 01:02:47.32]

And in promoting the movie, both Operation Underground Railroad and Angel Studios put out fact-verse-fiction articles on the film, and they both highlighted Kelly Johanna Suarez as the real-life villain of the film. It was those posts that gave media outlets license to place Suarez's picture right next to the villain when discussing the movie. Both organizations have wiped their websites of the posts, but they've pocketed hundreds of millions of dollars in the process. Going through this ordeal inspired Suarez to acquire a law degree. She hopes the world sees this story and that her name is cleared.

2
Speaker 2
[01:02:48.00 - 01:03:12.92]

My case has not yet concluded. I was released on provisional liberty, pending trial. And that's why we are suing these people, Mr. Tim Ballard, Angel Studios, Operation Underground Railroad, because they violated my right to the presumption of innocence. These people condemned me to the world with a movie that is completely false from beginning to end.

3
Speaker 3
[01:03:13.36 - 01:03:26.60]

As for Tim Ballard, in September 2023, news broke that the Mormon church denounced him for morally unacceptable behavior. Five women who'd worked with Ballard would eventually sue him for sexual misconduct.

2
Speaker 2
[01:03:27.00 - 01:03:35.18]

We were subjected to sexual harassment, spiritual manipulation, grooming, and sexual misconduct.

3
Speaker 3
[01:03:35.60 - 01:03:48.44]

The accusations include claims that Ballard employed a couple's ruse where the women posed as his wife to deceive traffickers, during which he allegedly subjected them to inappropriate behavior and sexual manipulation.

1
Speaker 1
[01:03:48.96 - 01:03:54.48]

How many more women have to come forward for this to be taken seriously?

3
Speaker 3
[01:03:54.98 - 01:04:00.54]

They claim that they had never seen a single child rescued on any OUR operations.

2
Speaker 2
[01:04:00.82 - 01:04:13.60]

People are donating to OUR because they believe that OUR does what they say they're going to do. But they're not rescuing children. They're making a morality play for money and for donations, and they're using videos of us and other fake operations.

3
Speaker 3
[01:04:13.96 - 01:04:23.74]

The women also claim that there are at least seven criminal investigations into the founder of OUR, and shocking news about the investigations continue to trickle out.

2
Speaker 2
[01:04:24.06 - 01:04:53.30]

The Utah County Sheriff's Office is holding on to key evidence. Celeste Boris was the former assistant to Tim Ballard. Now she's accusing him of sexually assaulting her while working on what he calls the couple's ruse. In a new filing, her lawyers claim to have a skirt of hers with Ballard's semen on it. Ballard denies anything sexual happened between them, but the new filing claims Utah County detectives matched the DNA on the skirt to Ballard.

3
Speaker 3
[01:04:53.48 - 01:05:12.94]

But Ballard continues to proclaim his innocence. He's argued that the allegations are financially motivated and part of a smear campaign. And now, since being denounced by the Mormon Church, Ballard appears to have found a new audience to fund his rescue operations, and he's pulling them in with a different kind of dog tag.

2
Speaker 2
[01:05:12.94 - 01:05:34.06]

When I was talking to Tim back there just now, leading up to this, he spoke to me about, he's starting to consider the Catholic Church and the Catholic faith. He showed me the proof right there. Miraculous medal. he's wearing, the medal of our blessed mother. So we're going to pray for this guy.

1
Speaker 1
[01:05:48.32 - 01:05:55.98]

RPA reached out to Tim Ballard, Angel Studios, and OUR for comment. Only OUR provided one, and they stated as follows.

3
Speaker 3
[01:05:56.36 - 01:06:20.40]

Ms. Moya is currently being prosecuted by the Colombian government for her involvement in child sex trafficking, and OUR Rescue's prior statement about Ms. Moya was an exercise of its First Amendment rights reflecting that fact. However, to be clear, OUR Rescue did not participate in production of Sound of Freedom, the development of any of its characters, or have approval rights in the film. In fact, OUR Rescue was not mentioned or referred to once in the film.

[01:06:20.84 - 01:06:26.12]

Ms. Moya's claims against OUR Rescue are baseless, and we look forward to addressing them in a court of law.

1
Speaker 1
[01:06:27.12 - 01:06:54.76]

The Utah judge in Kelly Johanna Suarez Moya's defamation lawsuit denied the Sound of Freedom defendant's request to dismiss the case. The judge stated in the decision, quote, the statements of the defendants were made with knowledge that such was false or with reckless disregard of whether it was false or not, end quote. Suarez will have her day in court. Directed, produced, and written by Patrick Karelchi and Adriana Cortez for Inform Ventures. Associate Producer, Poetry.
